POST WINGS

The simple and humorous language of life. A flock of swallows flies over the mountains and fields; despite their small size, they can travel far on the winds. Leaving the eaves and soaring into the distance, they eventually return to familiar lands, guided by memory. This is both a natural scene and a microcosm of generations of Taiwanese people’s lives.

The work is carved with rough knife marks to depict the swarms of swallows and the mountain ranges, accompanied by words resembling folk sayings. There is no embellishment from literati, but rather the straightforwardness and wisdom unique to folk language.

Able to fly high, yet never forgets its own smallness; able to leave home, yet never forgets its roots.

This "earthiness" is a character deeply rooted in the land—pragmatic, resilient, knowing its limits, and also bearing a humor in facing life. No matter how far the swallows fly, their hometown remains the coordinate for recognizing the direction of life.
