This work is the last sculpture created by Mr. Yang Fengchen before his passing, marking both the conclusion of his artistic journey and a spiritual distillation that returns to the essence. The piece employs a minimalist and introspective vocabulary, stripping away complex narratives to focus on the subtle balance between "form" and "energy." It presents the artist's profound insights into life and existence in his later years.
Water and moon serve as symbols;
They represent the essence of "emptiness" and "illusion" in the phenomenal world,
Being able to understand the emptiness of form and the illusory nature of all phenomena.
The moon’s reflection in the water is inherently absent; clear water allows the true moon to be seen, as all phenomena arise dependent on conditions are ultimately false, and the foolish mistakenly believe in a self.
Buddhism is like the moon in the water; the moon can be seen but not grasped.
Upon the pure and clear water, amidst the void white light, one catches a glimpse of its form, and all phenomena are empty.
