Introduction
"National Highway 317" does not focus on the highway itself, but rather showcases the profound dialogue between human civilization and the natural order through the magnificent mountains and winding landscapes of the Sichuan-Tibet Plateau. The image features layered mountain formations as its main subject, with thick and rhythmic brushstrokes akin to the compression and flow of geological plates. The blending of gray-green, violet-gray, and ochre colors makes the mountains retain a sense of reality while also exuding a dreamlike spiritual imagery. The meandering river and road in the foreground not only create a visual guide but also symbolize humanity's journey through nature and coexistence with the heavens and earth.

Zhang Guozhong continues his consistent artistic language of "realistic yet transcending realism," elevating natural landscapes to a philosophical spiritual space. He does not obsess over the reproduction of details but instead utilizes vibrant and textured oil paint to imbue the mountains with an inner rhythm and vitality, allowing the landscape to become a vessel for emotions and thoughts. The work is imbued with a vast grandeur in its calm and restrained colors, showcasing both the ruggedness and vastness of the plateau while reflecting the ethereal sentiment sought by Eastern aesthetics. The viewer, walking along the visual path of the painting, seems to be personally situated between heaven and earth, feeling the sublimity of nature, the passage of time, and the humility and resilience mirrored by life in the vast mountains and rivers.
