In Huang Suling's "Dancing Butterflies," natural lacquer becomes the canvas for a fusion of Eastern and Western mythical creatures, here embodied as vibrant butterflies weaving through vines laid in gold and silver foil. Her mastery of traditional lacquer techniques, especially in the intricate layering of colors and the use of carved gold inlay, reveals itself in the delicate balance between the lively butterflies and the serene vines. The artwork's color palette—with its golden-orange butterflies against a deep background—creates a stark visual contrast that introduces a sense of Zen amidst the vibrancy. This piece not only displays natural elegance but also invites viewers to delve into its hidden cultural meanings.
