Introduction
Born in 1943 into an artistic family in Shanghai, Fei Mingjie is a sculptor, installation artist, and university professor based in New York. His work is conceptually derived from gardens, symbolizing utopia and the relationship between humanity and nature, and he is best known for his giant fruit sculptures and mixed media installations. His sculptures utilize metal and paper, created in a hanging and rotatable manner, full of cultural richness and exhibiting an elegant style.
Fei has exhibited worldwide, including at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the National Academy Museum in the United States, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Łódź Biennale in Poland, and the Hong Kong Museum of Art. He has also participated in various public art programs in the United States, including a large hanging glass and steel sculpture within a Philadelphia residence, a giant tree sculpture for the Puerto Rico Department of Transportation and Public Works, and a granite bench sculpture at the Staten Island ferry terminal in New York.
