Introduction
The work intertwines vibrant colors, metallic textures, and traditional floral patterns, attempting to connect the memories of the land, natural life, and contemporary visual experiences. Light and flowers are not only symbols of nature, but also metaphors for the continuity of life and culture; seemingly disparate individuals navigate and coexist on the same land, much like different thoughts and consciousness influence each other over time, gradually constructing a unique life form of the island.
However, the "island" that I observe is not merely the land and scenery in front of me. Each person views the world through their own memories, experiences, and perceptions, and these varied viewpoints produce different "otherness." We think we see the same island, yet in reality, each person's heart reflects a different Taiwan.
The forms flowing, dividing, and traversing in the image resemble consciousness constantly shifting between reality and memory. Some are obscured, some revealed; some are what we perceive as real, while others exist beneath layers of consciousness, still unseen. Thus, light serves not only to illuminate the external landscape but also acts as a form of inward observation—navigating through the complexities of thoughts and experiences to rediscover our most genuine connection to the land.
The island is both a piece of land and a spiritual landscape composed of countless shared consciousness. Differences do not necessarily bring separation; rather, through repeated observation, collisions, and understanding, a shared cultural memory gradually takes shape. What my creation explores is how Taiwan integrates differences, coexists amidst diversity, and considers how individuals navigate through convoluted consciousness to see themselves, see others, and see this island anew.
