Introduction
The image depicts a cluster of blooming flowers under a window on a wall. The thick oil paint and rough brushstrokes create the texture of the wall, grass, and soil, giving the entire scene a sense of time-worn character.

The window, painted in deep black, forms a stark contrast, resembling a silent and unknown space, while the vibrant red and yellow flowers blooming below the window stand out distinctly. This creates a subtle tension between the two—closure and growth, stillness and life.

Zhao Erdai does not intentionally pursue meticulous depictions of nature; instead, he captures the emotional atmosphere of everyday scenes with thick and free brushstrokes, making an ordinary corner of the courtyard present a poetic and temporal image.

The flowers bloom under the window, as if continuing the cycle of natural life beyond the silent space.
