Intro
Donald Tan is a Singaporean artist and currently serves as the President of the Singapore Watercolor Society. From a young age, he has developed an unwavering love for drawing and painting. Despite his busy career, he enjoys spending weekends visiting exhibitions, art fairs, galleries, and museums as well as the opportunity to interact with other artists. Gradually, he also developed a deep passion in fine arts which culminated in him taking up Chinese Ink and pastel paintings, Chinese Calligraphy, and Watercolor painting.
Through art, he has also made many new friends from various arts outings, events, and groups which have greatly enriched his life. They can frequently be found painting sceneries together locally and even on overseas trips, capturing the beautiful fond memories forged. For studio works, Donald prefers to paint nature, and in particular, chickens. These painting sessions have become his favorite past time and hobby. Donald was accepted as member of the Singapore Watercolor Society (SWS) in 2012 and has since served in several key appointments including as Secretary General and Vice-President. He helps to organize the members’ exhibition and the National Junior “On the spot” Watercolor Competitions annually. He has also coordinated many overseas exhibitions and painting trips for the Society.
His works have also been exhibited in both local and overseas exhibitions that were organized by art societies from different countries including China, Vietnam, Australia, Japan, Korea and Malaysia.
He is also the Vice President of the Federation of Arts Societies Singapore and a Life member of the Singapore Art Society and The Society of Chinese Artists.
