Introduction
"Putting fame and fortune aside, seeking true sincerity and tranquility within."
About "Not barren": Honest cultivation, regardless of harvest
In Mr. Zhao Er-dai's philosophy, "barren" does not refer to wasteland, but to a lazy spirit. He writes: "Only ask about cultivation, not about harvest." This seal serves as a self-reminder—if one continues to create and think, life will not be wasted. This has nothing to do with fame; rather, it is the simplest account of life.
About "Hall": A corner of contentment and self-restraint
"Hall" is not an impressive building, but a place where one can reside peacefully. He states: "Contentment is the starting point of goodness." Thus, he builds the "Not Barren Hall," distancing himself from hypocrisy, confronting himself calmly within, and maintaining a quiet space.
Artistic quality: The tenacity of patience
The lines of the seal are vigorous and heavy, embodying stubbornness. As he said: "Only by remaining calm under pressure can one endure hardship." The mottled and chipped surfaces are traces of life's resilience, not seeking polish, but truthfulness, demonstrating unconquerable spirit.
