Introduction
Andrew uses blurred brushstrokes and moist colors to depict a group of urban pedestrians navigating the streets under umbrellas. The focus of the painting is not on the faces of the individuals, but rather on the shared atmosphere of living together in the city and facing the mundane details of daily life.

The rain slows down the rhythm of the city and enhances the reflection of light and shadows, creating a more vibrant scene. The color blocks of red, blue, and purple under the umbrellas serve as carriers of emotion, and the viewer can almost hear the whispers of raindrops falling interwoven with the voices on the street. McDermott excels at using the wet urban scenery to present a sensitive perspective where stillness intertwines with movement, and movement is infused with poetry, transforming fragments of everyday life into poetic images.
