"The Statue in the Old Garden" is a work that cleverly combines stillness and flow. The nude statue, seen from behind, sits quietly in front of a lush garden, seemingly serving as a witness to the passage of time. The interplay of leaves and light creates a space that not only surrounds her but also makes her appear to exist in a realm that is half-real, half-dreamlike. Sergei Pietilä uses layers of pastel colors and brushstroke traces to evoke in the viewer a subtle perception of tranquility, the past, and the eternal presence.
