Intro
Lofty mountains, hidden small houses, rushing waters, soaring birds, and the plants that blanket the mountain tops are elegantly captured in a single frame. The scene depicted in the painting is tranquil, yet one can almost see the sea of clouds swirling among the peaks, and faintly hear the murmuring of the water and the calls of birds. The extensive use of negative space combined with varying shades of ink creates a unique sense of space characteristic of Chinese landscape painting—flat stretches, lofty heights, and deep expanses all contribute to an expansive and profound composition.
For this work, a gradient of deep crimson was specially sprayed onto the kiln, and the profound black and gold of the vessel contrasts vividly with the landscape painting at its center, resulting in a piece of colored porcelain brimming with charm.
