Introduction
This three-legged double-handled ceramic jar was made in the Han Dynasty of China (202 BC to 220 AD) and showcases the unique aesthetic of Han pottery design and decoration. The jar has a full and rounded body, with three legs on the bottom for stability and symmetrical double handles for easy transport. One side of the jar is decorated with a lively and charming relief of a human face, with clear features and a gentle expression, possibly symbolizing blessings, protection, or ancestral worship. Such human-face pottery was commonly found in burial offerings during the Han Dynasty, serving both practical functions and as a combination of religious rituals and aesthetic emotions. It reflects the deep beliefs and artistic pursuits of the society regarding life, death, and ancestral veneration, leaving a distinct mark on the material and spiritual civilization of the Han era.
