Introduction
Title: The Well-Behaved Lion (Fortune, Prosperity, Longevity, Happiness, Wealth)
This artwork seeks to pray for the safety and health of the entire family, bringing them fortune, prosperity, longevity, happiness, and wealth.
Creative Concept:
- The stone lion: The artist transforms the traditional stone lion, a guardian of the family home, into a contemporary well-behaved lion suitable for all ages. This continues the artist’s mission to convey Chinese traditional virtues to the entire world in a modern dialect.
- Scissors: Symbolizing the "cutting away of disasters" and "cutting through unrest," the homophony in Min Nan dialect means "family," conveying the protection of "safety for every family."
- Well-behaved: This incorporates the Taiwanese cultural belief that "machines should be well-behaved; both young and old should be healthy," implying that blessings will surely come.
- Hair ornaments: A signature gift to every admirer, representing the Eastern pinnacle of the five blessings, making it the strongest present from the artist—fortune, prosperity, longevity, happiness, and wealth.
- Balls: Various types of balls, with a homophony of "asking," are depicted on the right arm, commonly regarded as the most powerful in Eastern traditions, transmitting the strongest prayers and fulfilling the most important promises.
"Let us use a pack of well-behaved lions, a pair of scissors, and a smile to help everyone in the world, like the stone lion, protect their family with safety and health, spreading endless joy."
