Introduction
Artwork Title: Obedient Guardian Lion (Fortune, Prosperity, Longevity, Happiness, Wealth)
A prayer for the protection of the whole family, to ensure peace, health, and the arrival of good fortune.
Creation Concept:
- The stone lion, a traditional guardian of the home, has been transformed by the artist into a contemporary "obedient lion," suitable for all ages. This continues the mission of Kai Sen to convey traditional Chinese virtues to the world using contemporary language.
- Scissors symbolize "cutting away misfortune" and "cutting open unease," with the Min Nan dialect homophone for "home," conveying the message of "peace for every family."
- Obedient symbolizes the folk belief in Taiwan that "machines should be obedient, and everyone should be healthy," signifying the wish for dreams to be fulfilled.
- Hair accessories are symbolically given to each viewer as the top five blessings from the East, Kai Sen's strongest gift of fortune, prosperity, longevity, happiness, and wealth.
- Balls of various types, whose homophone means "to ask," are depicted on the right arm, which is traditionally regarded as the strongest hand of the Eastern people, sending out the most powerful prayers to fulfill the most important promises.
"Let us use a pack of obedient snacks, a pair of scissors, and a smile to help everyone in the world, just like the stone lion, to protect the health and safety of their families and spread endless joy."
