Introduction
This artwork features a deep blue base, symbolizing boundless emptiness and the vast Dharma realm, creating an atmosphere that is tranquil, profound, and mysterious. The central figure is a seated Buddha in the Southern school style, with the right hand touching the earth and the left hand in meditation, while the hair is shaped like flames. The circular halo behind the Buddha's head is layered with gold leaf, red gold, and rose gold, forming a golden gradient that radiates outward, symbolizing the infinite light of the Buddha’s wisdom and compassion.
The Buddha's figure is surrounded by an abundance of clover, with the body depicted in low saturation shades of gray-blue and gray-purple, conveying a sense of stability, while bright green and pink below add a playful joyfulness. The clover symbolizes blessings and hope, as well as the seeds of the Dharma scattering in all directions, implying that the Buddha's light shines across the ten directions, bringing clarity and liberation.
In the middle of the composition, a South Asian stupa is depicted in pure gold, symbolizing nirvana, wisdom, and the eternal existence of the Dharma body, serving as a lighthouse guiding beings back to their true nature. The artwork also resonates with the Huayan concepts of the "Ten Buddhas in the Realm of Understanding" and "One Flower, One World," with the abundance of clover representing countless worlds and innumerable Buddha lands, indicating that the Dharma body pervades the void, limitless and unobstructed.
Overall, the deep blue emptiness, the solemnity of the golden stupa, and the vitality of the plants together showcase Huayan wisdom, making this piece not only rich in decorative beauty but also a contemporary Buddhist art work that presents the light of the Dharma body and the possibilities of enlightenment.
