Chen Shuyi is a Taipei native, and she studied under her father, the master of gouache, Chen Dingyang. She has been engaged in gouache creation for over thirty years and has participated in provincial art exhibitions as well as the Taiyang Art Exhibition. She has also been involved in joint exhibitions with the Green Water Paint Society and the Gouache Painting Society, and she will be part of the 2025 Asia Art Alliance Grand Exhibition. The themes of her works are often inspired by the natural landscapes. Gouache paints are challenging to layer, yet they provide rich and profound depths, allowing for subtle changes in color to be skillfully portrayed. Her personal works lean towards realistic depiction, using soft tonal elements to present a tranquil style.
