Intro
This work presents a strong landscape imagery, using flowing ink and layered textures to create a sense of rhythm akin to the breathing of the earth. The deep and heavy ink on the left side of the canvas resembles the fractures of geological layers and the traces left by river erosion, while the right side showcases more delicate textures, akin to the fine patterns sculpted by time along the coastline.
Zheng Yuemei employs a "new ink wash" technique, utilizing the sheen of gold leaf and the variations in ink color to infuse the piece with rich layers. Delicate lines intertwine between the blended color blocks, representing the textures of the land, as well as the threads of memory, intertwining time and space within the composition. The vertical layout of the painting guides the viewer’s gaze upward, as if following the undulations of the landscape to glimpse the inner spirit of the Taiwanese land.
This artwork is not merely a recreation of a landscape, but a visual translation of the spirit of the land. Within the permeation and diffusion of the ink, there lies a reverence for nature and an emotional projection of culture, allowing the viewer to experience the warmth and vitality emanating from the land, amidst the abstract and the figurative.
