Tay Hock Leong, born in Singapore, has loved music, calligraphy and painting since childhood. He graduated from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He taught at Nanyang Polytechnic before retirement. His calligraphy was taught by Dr. Qiu Shaohua. He is currently the president of the Singapore Teachers Art Association, the vice-treasurer of the Singapore Art Federation and the director of the International Art Forum of the Federation of Literary and Art Circles; a permanent member of the Singapore Art Association and the Chinese Art Research Association, and a member of the Singapore Watercolor Society.
