Introduction
"Mutual Affection" is not a straightforward depiction of love, but rather a three-dimensional work that uses the fusion of forms to symbolize emotional states. In the piece, two bodies cling to and overlap with each other, their boundaries blurred yet not completely consuming one another. The forms maintain their own weight and rhythm in their closeness, presenting a quiet and stable companionship.

The postures of the figures do not express passion or movement but exist in a way that is inward-looking and protective, akin to a natural fit that has formed over time. This approach reflects Zhao Erdai's understanding of emotions—love is not an ostentatious declaration, but a state of mutual accommodation and reliance developed through long-term living together.

The hollow structure at the bottom of the work suggests that "emotion" does not just exist between the two individuals but is more like a shared vessel of life, symbolizing the shared years and daily life in marriage. The surface of the material retains a warm tactile quality and natural glaze, further enhancing the intimacy, trust, and enduring companionship conveyed by the piece.

This work can be seen as a representative piece of Zhao Erdai's later creations, transforming his life experiences into universal emotional vocabulary—deep affection expressed without words, quietly flowing between the forms.
