Introduction
This work is composed of layered mountains and waterways that create an overall picture. The mountains do not specifically point to a certain landscape, nor does the water represent actual rivers; instead, it unfolds repeatedly through the intermingling of light blue and ochre, capturing the traces of the flow of time. The mountain ridges emerge with simple outlines, like images constantly reorganized in memory; the houses and tree shadows are merely hinted at with minimal brushstrokes, resembling fragments of life, faintly visible.
Zhao Erdai no longer focuses on the "scenes seen," but rather turns to the "territories traversed." The image has no clear starting or ending point; the mountains and rivers flow like a dream, existing both in front of us and in our hearts. This is a work about reflection—when life reaches its later stages, the world no longer exists with clear outlines but transforms into a layered, indistinguishable state of flux between reality and memory.
