There is a saying ‘a rose among the thorns’ or ‘a rose between the thorns’. When I created this piece, it was in a very dark time in my life when I was living with my Ex partner and I felt trapped in a relationship that took away my happiness. At that moment I stopped feeling beautiful, I became insecure and life was dull. When I left that relationship, I finally found my energy again and I felt so free. Looking back at that drawing I can definitely see that I was a passionate and joyful woman trapped between the thorns. Now I’m living a wonderful life, although the woman in that painting was not living happy, she is the reason I found myself again.
