“One Sunday, I hosted a lecture and received a beautiful bouquet from a friend as a congratulatory gift. I decided to capture it in a painting to commemorate the occasion. The famous poet Li Bai once wrote in his poem ‘To a Friend,’ with particularly profound lines: ‘I find no fragrant beauty within, yet bask in the clear breeze. If any lingering fragrance remains, may it accompany me through the years.’ The concluding line reads, ‘In life, true friendship is priceless; what need is there for gold or silver?’ Reflection: Ancient people’s congratulations truly were overthought!”
