In the journey towards modernizing aesthetics in painting, “purity” seems to be a strategy as well. Many artists strive for serious exploration along this winding path. Some resolve it through deformation or abstraction, while many, like the author, continue to delve deeper into the path of realism. Though their directions differ, all are engaged in the so-called “contemporary” reconfiguration of the self. With the title “Yearning,” this piece uses semi-abstract color blocks to express a sense of liberation, moving closer to purity.
