Intro
Ms. He Wen-Gao was born in Kaohsiung and developed a strong interest in painting from an early age. She worked as a high school Chinese teacher for 28 years, and after retiring at 50, she began studying both Chinese and Western painting. Her exploration of Western art ranged from charcoal figure drawings to watercolor, pastel, and oil painting. Between 2006 and 2009, she consecutively won watercolor awards at art exhibitions for four years. From 2017 to 2024, she received awards for her oil paintings. In Chinese painting, she diligently studied subjects such as flowers, meticulous brushwork, landscapes, and calligraphy. From 2012 to 2013, she also received calligraphy awards at art exhibitions, accumulating a total of 16 art exhibition awards. Her most recent recognition was in 2024 at the Hsinchu Art Exhibition, where she won the Award of Excellence for Western Media. These honors have greatly encouraged her and affirmed her work.
He Wen-Gao began holding solo exhibitions in 2006, where, in addition to displaying her paintings, she also showcased new poems inspired by her artwork. She has held over 20 solo exhibitions to date, with countless group exhibitions. In 2018, she compiled her pastel paintings into a book, which not only includes paintings and poetry but is also written in calligraphy and translated into English. The book, titled Pastel World, has already been published. In addition, she actively promotes art activities, serving as the 8th President of the Lakeside Art Association from December 1, 2019, to December 1, 2021, and is currently the Honorary President of the Lakeside Art Association.
