Introduction
In this work, Reydal Espinosa constructs a surreal fable theater. The queen, adorned with a crown and standing tall, resembles a ruler of nature, yet simultaneously reveals fragility and absurdity, exposing the absurdity behind power and desire.
The scene is a mixture of various half-human, half-beast strange creatures: grotesque combinations of bird beaks and human bodies, bodies burdened with massive shells, and small animals moving in groups—all intertwining like a dream. These symbolic existences evoke a sense of mythological solemnity while simultaneously introducing a dual tension of fairy tale and satire.
Through delicate brushwork and dramatic composition, Espinosa immerses the viewer in a world that is both familiar and strange. Here, nature and humanity, order and chaos, power and fable intertwine to create a profoundly meaningful tapestry. The work serves as both a critique of reality and a metaphor for the deep contradictions within humanity.
