Intro
My artistic creations have long focused on exploring the historical trajectory and living conditions of individuals in the context of post-colonial culture in Taiwan within the backdrop of contemporary globalization. The artwork "The Red Carpet" draws its inspiration from the real experiences of my father who lived through the indiscriminate and inhumane carpet bombing by American forces during World War II. This form of warfare, which erased the brilliance of civilization in a carpet-like fashion, left a profound impact on Taiwan. The vibrant colors in the artwork symbolize the intertwining dominance of foreign powers over Taiwan's politics, economy, culture, and military affairs. However, it's also through the lens of our historical experiences that the people of Taiwan have developed resilience when facing the ever-evolving global landscape, often marked by crisis.
